Essentials for Healthy Homes Training

 In collaboration with the National Center for Healthy Housing and the Florida Department of Health's Healthy Homes Program, we are excited to offer a unique training opportunity to Florida Department of Health staff and our partners. This training is free of charge. The deadline to register is May 16, 2012. Please share and forward this announcement to anyone you think might be interested in this training.

When:     May 30 and 31, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The two-day Essentials for Healthy Homes Practitioners Course highlights the connection between health and housing, and will help participants identify and resolve problems which threaten the health and well-being of residents. The training will focus on mitigating health and safety issues such as lead poisoning, asthma, carbon monoxide poisoning, chemical exposure and other household injuries.

After the second day of training, we will be offering the exam for the Healthy Homes Specialist Credential through the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA). Additional information about the Healthy Homes Specialist Credential, requirements to obtain it, fees and payment information, and application form are attached. Also, more information about the credential can be found at http://www.healthyhomestraining.org/Credential/index.htm.

Please contact Cheryl Urbas at (850) 245-4444, extension 2959, or , if you are interested in taking the exam so we can make sure we have enough exams available. However, please send your application for the credential to NEHA by May 16, 2012 (mailing information is on the application). If those interested cannot get the application to NEHA by this date then you can bring the completed application with fees to the training, but please still let Ms. Urbas know that you will be taking the exam.
