Permitted limited use systems must be maintained so that all components
are functioning properly at all times. If the system does shut down, the
supplier must take immediate steps to restore it to working order. He or
she must notify the county health department not later than the next
business day after a system shutdown or treatment failure. Failures
(e.g., line breaks) that may result in contaminating the water supply
will require boil water or bottled water notifications to all system
customers as well as the county health department. See Corrective
Actions.
The supplier must alert all users and the county health department in
advance if a maintenance operation will result in a system pressure loss
or change in water quality.
